My Heart Wants What It Wants: Back To Working With Children With Disabilities

Some months ago, I told my close family and friends that I had brought my Master of Occupational Therapy certificate back from Sydney to Johor Bahru, Malaysia to be made into a plaque and hung up on the wall because I had had enough of working in that field. That I was moving on to something a little more glamorous, onwards to the world of high fashion, beauty and travel. And so towards the end of last year and the beginning of this year, I worked on my personal brand, set up a blog and did a photoshoot for it.

Yet there was a still voice in the back of my mind, emanating from the depths of my heart that I needed to continue working with children, especially those with disabilities. Continue reading


Returning to live in Johor Bahru (JB) wasn’t something that I had planned. After leaving for Sydney, Australia, I didn’t think that I would return to live in Malaysia, let alone my hometown of JB. When I came home in October of 2015, I thought I would live the rest of the year in JB recuperating from the hectic life in Sydney before returning there in January of 2016. Come January and February of 2016 and I’m still here.

It certainly has been a bit of a readjustment, moving back in with my parents and having to live with them after being away for so long. Continue reading

The Dream of Studying Abroad Becoming a Reality

Ever since I was a little girl, it has been a dream to study abroad. The allure of leaving home and studying in another country called out to me like a siren calling out to fishermen in ancient mythology. When I finished high school, I attended HELP University and did my college courses there. I envied those of my friends who left for Australia, New Zealand, America and England to pursue their studies.
